    Compressor Mounting

How is the forward pivot or hinge point attached for the A/C compressor? On AIM C60 C it shows the 3 smaller bolts #1 attaching the compressor to the support bracket #3 and the rear of the compressor pivot point with #9 but the lower front pivot point is hard to decipher. It looks like maybe there is a pin pressed in for #15 bracket to #3 bracket ??????

    Dale,
There are only 2 bolts #1 on sheet C3. If you go to sheet D4, view B, the bolt, #10, goes through the the hose clip (#7), through mounting bracket, #3 on page C3, through the support #9, through support rear #15, and secured by nut #11 (page D4). This bolt is not the same as #1 on sheet C3 as it has a different part number. #15 support rear is attached by a stud in the first exhaust manifold bolt hole (#14 C3) and the 3rd exhaust manifold bolt- #16 C3. If I remember correctly, this bolt is longer than the standard bolt. The rear of the compressor is held by bolt #10 through the support rear, through the bracket rear (#13 C3) and secured by a nut. I hope this helps.

      Re: Compressor Mounting

Thanks Jeff for getting back. I still can't follow it. When you look at C 60, C3 and say only two #1's, note says you have to look at D3 for parts. This page, C3, also is for the SB, the next page C60, C4 is for the BB and does show three #1 bolts holding the compressor to #3 support 3887167. It then shows the adjusting bolt # 6 18177 through the adjusting slot. Now the compressor has two pivot points about the axis. First # 9 122145 toward the rear and then what is in the front? I see the hole in bracket #15, 3894362 but what goes through it? If you look at view A bolt # 16 is pointing to the hole that I am confused about. I know #16 Bolt is for the engine boss and # 8 washer, just orientation. I think there could be just a hinge pin, that's all it would need as it is secured by# 9 in the aft and all the others in the font. That's how I have put together. Maybe some one has a picture. Please. I guess I should have said this is a 390hp 68 BB with C60. To get on same page.

        Dale,
Sorry for not asking the right question in the first place after reading you initial question- what year and what engine. What I gave you was an answer for a '69 small block with which I am familiar. Sorry I was no help.

That's OK Jeff, I should have said it's a 68 BB up front. Anyone have such a car that could tell me how the front end of the compressor attaches to the bracket where it rotates on its longitudinal axis? Bolt or pin?

Found it at Paragon item 1476K, it's that pin.
            Thanks Jeff
