    59-60 FI guys Need Help!!!!!

Can I get someone with a 59 (preferably) or a 60 Fuel car to post close-up pictures of the accelerator rod bracket (that wide thing that the accelerator pedal rod attaches to at the firewall) and the linkage that connects to it and the bellcrank? I'm trying to determine if my bracket is correct. Mine is positioned so far forward, I can't adjust the bellcrank throttle rod to achieve WOT. John D. and I seem to think the issue may be with area-- can't find any detailed pictures of the bracket position. Thanks All. Al

Am I the only one with a 59 FI car in the NCRS? Surely someone else has 1 that can provide the pictures. Thanks!!! Al

Al, I tried but it is very difficult without taking it apart. Perhaps someone that has theirs apart will get better pictures. I was going to post what I had but the system will not allow me to upload them (they are less than the maximum allowable size so I don't know why). Don H.

Loren, I 've checked, but did not see what I need. Donald, thanks for trying. The main thing would be to see the position or angle of the bracket (with pinchnut bolt) in relation to the top of the engine, so I can possibly tell if mine is correct, as it is positioned too far forward toward the FI unit or if I have other issues. Again, thanks for the response! Al

Al, I have the original unit bellcrank for the '61 FI I'm restoring here. Is that the same part as 59-60? Engine isn't back in yet but I have the original pedal throttle rod and bracket loose in the beadblast pile. My FI throttle rod, however, is a repro. I can take some measurements and pics of what I have here loose if you think it'll help.

p.s. I'm wondering if your unit bellcrank is bent. That longest part of the lever looks a little "different" to me.

Here are a couple of pictures. (I had to go to another computer to upload.) The bell crank & arm are original, the rod is not. Don H.

Don, that bellcrank has a very long upper arm, consistent with what I see on '57-ish FI units. What FI model is that?

Al, check the picture I posted in your thread on CF.

Jim, It is a '60 320 unit. Although I have had it for a long time I am not 100% sure the bellcrank is correct. Don H.

Richard, not sure if it is the same or not. I'm sure John D or Podell would know. The bell crank is a repo, however, when it is laid side by side with my original, I can't see any difference between the two that would change any lengths or angles.

Okay, Just wanted to check in if I could assist with more samples. Hope you figure it out as I may have a similar issue on this '61 eventually.

                          Al,

Here's the picture I posted on CF of the linkage on my FI unit. Compared to yours, the angle formed by the two bellcrank arms on mine seems measurably larger, which allows me to achieve WOT.

Don, this unit started life as a 7320 model, same as yours and the bellcrank for it, altho a repop, is like the original 7320 bellcranks I have.

Jim, I did notice yesterday that with the choke off, the top of the bell crank goes toward the radiator a little more, which results in more angle similar to but not as much as yours. I decided to cut the end off the throttle rod that hooks in the BC and re-bend it. This will result in a shorter rod and more pedal. Found out the rod's a repo, so I guess it won't matter if Bubba shows up on this one. Al

Jim, I am not seeing a difference in my bellcrank & yours other than which side the rod attaches to. Don H.
